Police Say Man Hit Bicycle Rider

A Baton Rouge man is facing charges that include negligent homicide in the death of a bicycle rider. Allen Ketelsen's pickup ran into the rear of a bicycle killing a New Orleans man. Ketelsen was booked into the Parish Jail.

New School To Be Built In NO

For the first time since Hurricane Katrina and levee breaks flooded 80-percent of New Orleans ground was broken yesterday for the first school to be built in the city since the storm. Langston Hughes Elementary is being rebuilt at its former site. It's one of five schools that comprise a so-called "Quick Start" plan being funded to the tune of 165-million-dollars by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Gas Up Another Penny

High gas prices are continuing to put a stranglehold on the pocketbooks of Louisiana motorists. Triple-A reports the statewide average price of unleaded regular is up another penny today to just shy of three-94 a gallon, a new record high. Diesel is right at four-70 a gallon, also an all-time high. Nationwide, the average price of regular has now climbed to a record high price of four-dollars-five-cents.

Missing Man's Body Found

New Orleans authorities have found the body of a man who disappeared while swimming in Lake Pontchartrain. Wildlife and Fisheries agents say the body of 20-year-old Elder Aguillar was found about 150 yards from the shore.

Man Arrested In Hit And Run Case

44-year-old Darryl Whittington of Zachary has been booked on charges stemming from a deadly hit-and-run accident late Friday night in Baton Rouge. Whittington's pickup, was found abandoned Saturday with damage matching that sustained by the car that struck and killed a St. Francisville woman.
