Parents In Trouble With the Law

The parents of a family moving from Florida to Louisiana ran into some big-time trouble with the law in Mississippi on Monday.  A Hancock County deputy sheriff stopped the moving truck they were traveling in on I-10 after the Highway Patrol received a report that children had been locked in the back of the vehicle.  Sure enough, the deputy found the parents in the cab of the truck and four girls, ages seven, ten, eleven and 15-years-old in the back of the truck.  The parents, John and Kimberly Leinweber of Atlantic Beach, Florida, were arrested on the spot.  Each is charged with four-counts of child endangerment.

Pilgrim's Pride Plant Still Up for Sale

The state is talking to Foster Farms about increasing their offer
for the Pilgrims Pride plant in Farmerville. In the meantime, the
Louisiana Attorney General's office is looking into possible legal
action. At issue...is Pilgrims Pride trying to drive up chicken
prices with this closure, and does that violate the state's Unfair
Trade or anti-trust laws? Trey Phillips with the A-G says since
Pilgrims Pride is in Chapter 11, why didn't they present the last
two offers to the bankruptcy court?

State Jobs Planned to Get Cut- But Which Ones?

Some officials say it's unclear which state government jobs would be
cut under Governor Jindal's budget proposal on state government
employment. The plan calls for elimination of more than 14-hundred
state government jobs next year. Several agencies say they haven't
figured out which jobs would be cut.

The son of a Ku Klux Klan leader is asking for a sanity hearing.
Shane Foster, along with his dad Raymond Foster, is charged with
second-degree murder in the death of an Oklahoma woman. Attorneys
for the younger Foster want to put up an insanity defense.
