Search Called Off

The U.S. Coast Guard has ended its search for 18-year-old Bruce
O'Krepki of Hammond, who fell overboard Sunday night from a the
Carnival Fantasy cruise ship into the Gulf, about 150 miles
southwest of Tampa, Florida. O'Krepki was on a trip to celebrate
his recent high school graduation.

Lake Charles Crash

State police say one person was killed and three others injured in a
multi-vehicle crash Tuesday on state Highway 384 near Lake Charles.
Troopers say 17-year-old Artem Dubuvoy was killed after he collided
with an oncoming vehicle while trying to pass another. Injured in
the crash were 40-year-old Christy Decelle, 25-year-old Brister
Rachel Soileau and 17-year-old Kevin O'Neal.

Franklin Man Charged In Crash

A Franklin man was charged with careless operation of a vehicle and operating an off road vehicle on the roadway.  St. Mary deputies say Derrick Watson was riding on the road with a 4 wheeler and lost control of it, hitting a mailbox.  Both the driver and passenger were thrown from the vehicle and Watson was issued a summons.

19-Year-Old Charged In Bomb Case

A 19 year-old from Bayou Vista was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and manufacture of a bomb.  St. Mary parish officials says it stems from an investigation where the subject, Cody Fuselier, had put together some household materials with another person in his back yard and it blew up. The device was small and did no harm or damage to any property. A juvenile age 16 was also arrested in this incident.

Fatal Crash Near Lake Charles


One person was killed in a Tuesday afternoon crash on Big Lake Road south of Lake Charles. While passing a car, the driver lost control and was struck by an oncoming car.  Driver Artem Dubovoy, 17, was killed.  Police says he Dubovoy was wearing a seatbelt when the car he was driving struck another one, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
