Delta and Northwest Merger Will Not Affect Monroe Routes
The merger of Delta Airlines and Northwest Airlines is not expected
to affect service to Atlanta and Memphis from Monroe. Monroe
Regional Airport officials say they don't expect any reductions in
services as a result of the merger.

Bossier City Vietnam Vet to Be Profiled
Plans are under way to produce a film on the life of a Vietnam
veteran who lives in Bossier City. Independent filmmaker Carlos
Roman plans to visit the area early in January to meet with resident
Jimmie Brown and to scout locations for the flick. Brown, who's now
69 years old, retired from the Army in 1974 following a career that
included a volunteer combat tour in Vietnam. Brown was injured as
the war wound down, and spent months in hospitals and
rehabilitation.

Cleco and City of Alexandria Could Reach Agreement
Officials say Alexandria customers could save about 60-million
dollars in the future under a proposal to settle allegations that
Cleco Corporation overcharged them on power bills in the past. The
proposal does not mention attorney fees or rebates. Rebates were
the main issue raised by about 30 citizens who attended a hearing at
a city council meeting early this week. Neither the city's
administration nor the council have said how much Cleco allegedly
owes.

Terrebonne Parish Officals Considering What to Do With FEMA Money
One of the south Louisiana parishes hit hard by Hurricane Gustav
will be receiving 150-million dollars from the federal government
for recovery efforts, but officials have not yet decided how the
money will be spent. Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet
and the parish council will decide which projects benefit under a
state-designed system to push money to the local level faster.
Claudet says the list of priorities should be completed by
mid-January.
