Gas Prices Doing The Upward Thing

You can almost hear motorists screaming "enough already!" The average price of unleaded regular climbed another two-cents a gallon today to a record high of three-dollars-63-cents in Louisiana. The only good news is that the price is a dime below the nationwide average of three-73. Folks who have to put premium in their vehicles are now shelling out an average of four-dollars-five-cents while the average price of diesel in Louisiana has hit four-26 a gallon, a four-cent increase over Monday.

Milk Tainted

A pair of Natchitoches Parish teens are accused of contaminating milk that was later distributed at school. Two three year-olds drank the milk allegedly laced with glass cleaner, detergent and paint.

Man Deported Twice Before Charged In Another Crime

Bossier deputies arrest a man for allegedly attempting to rape his housekeper, only to discover he is in the country illegally. Carlos "Santos" Canales is a horse trainer by trade, who has been deported at least twice before.

Two Fired For Raises

Two supervisors in the Orleans Parish district attorney's child support enforcement division have been fired for giving employes in the division salary advances. The advances--which ranged from a couple of hundred dollars to two thousand dollars--have been repaid to the office. Most of the money had been repaid by the time independent auditors, conducting a required annual audit for 2007, uncovered the suspicious checks.

Two Teens Faces Charges Of Hurting A Boy

Two teenagers have been arrested for reportedly assaulting a 10-year old boy at a neighborhood playground in Vivian. The 10-year old was playing kickball with friends when the ball went over a fence. The boy went into the woods to retrieve the ball and had an encounter with the teenagers, who allegedly grabbed him, pushed him down and assaulted him.
