Fort Polk Base Unknown Substance Send 11 to Hospital
It sounds like the beginning of an "X-Files" episode. Two contractors on the Fort Polk Army Base have a bad reaction to an unknown substance released from two underground containers, when a
backhoe accidentally ripped into them. 11 contractors were taken to Fort Polk's hospital for evaluation after the Wednesday accident. Fort Polk is not identifying the released substance, but promises
more information later.

New Orleans Undercover Officer Shot
Authorities say a New Orleans police officer was shot in the shoulder last night. Officials say the wound suffered by Office Dylen Pazon is not believed to be life threatening. Police say Pazon was one a group of plain-clothes officers dealing with drug and gun crimes. Authorities say the group approached a suspect at an intersection who fired at the officers with a sawed-off shotgun. The officers fired back, but the suspect is still at large.

Man Survives Crash then Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Him
In Tangipahoa Parish, a man who ran a stop sign and ended up dying, but not from running into the ditch. He got out of his car trying to stop people for help, and the driver of a pickup truck hit him, killed him, and kept driving. Now, Louisiana State Police are searching for the man who killed him.
