Lake Arthur Woman Charged with Amputation Murder
A Lake Arthur woman pleads not guilty to second-degree murder in the
October slaying of her mother, whose body was reportedly stuffed in
a padlocked box and buried in east Texas. Thirty-six-year-old
Roseann Duhon Klumpp is accused of killing 60-year-old Dorothy Mae
Hey, also of Lake Arthur.

Recall Election Forced in Ouachita Parish Town
A recall drive in Louisiana has been completed--the effort to get an
election to remove Richwood Mayor Steve Hunter from office. Nebeth
Wilhite, one of the organizers. The 330 signatures needed have been turned over to the Oucahita
Parish Registrar.

Delta Community College Doing Well
Delta Community College in Monroe says it's been told to develop 3
lists of budget cuts--totalling nearly 6 percent, 8 percent and 10
percent. That's the bad news. The good news? Construction of the new
campus is still on, as 45-million dollars in bonds have already been
sold, and thanks to a jump in enrollment this fall, Chancellor Luke
Robins says Delta may be better able to absorb budget cuts.

Bank Robbing Lawyer Sentenced
A Hammond lawyer has been sentenced to 71 months in federal prison
for robbing an Alabama bank. 31-year-old Scott Meece pleaded guilty,
and has confessed he also robbed a bank in Mississippi.

Charities Having Trouble
Louisiana charities are struggling to keep up with the demand for
toys they like to hand out during the holiday season. The President
of Operation Santa Claus in northwest Louisiana, Pete Williams, says
they had to cut off requests for help, and told those individuals to
check back next week.
