Previously Convicted Bond Broker Found Guilty Again On Federal Charges

(New Orleans, LA)  --  The third time wasn't the charm.  It was just another conviction for Gwendolyn Moyo, this time on more than 40-federal counts of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.  Moyo was found guilty in New Orleans U.S. District Court of selling bogus construction bonds that garnered nearly two-million dollars in illegal proceeds.  The scheme also brought down State Senator Derrick Shepherd who pled guilty earlier this month to conspiracy to commit money laundering and resigned his legislative seat.  Congressman William Jefferson and his sister, Betty Jefferson, were listed in Moyo's indictment as unindicted co-conspirators in the money laundering scam but have not been charged.
