Euthanization Investigation An attorney hired by Tangipahoa Parish to investigate the euthanizations of 172 dogs and cats on August 4th explains the reason for the action. Glen Galbraith says outbreaks of various diseases and lack of quarantine space at the Parish Animal Control Shelter led to the decision to euthanize, based on the opinions of two local veterinarians. Representatives of the Humane Society of the United States will be evaluating the Animal Control Shelter--probably in September--and Galbraith says the parish will submit his findings to them. He says he's confident the Humane Society evaluation will yield favorable results. The shelter reopens Wednesday, but is seeking a new director. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 10:16 PM
