Millions Going To Farmers Flooding Their Fields
The government is doling out $20-million to farmers in eight states, including Louisiana, to create habitats for migratory birds whose usual Gulf wintering spots may be fouled by the massive BP oil spill.

Boat Signals For Help
The U.S Coast Guard has rescued six people from a 16-foot pleasure craft, 20 miles southwest of New Orleans. Coast Guard officials say the boaters were spotted after a flare was fired from aboard the vessel.

Several Bodies Found
Waterways around New Orleans have given back the bodies of three lives taken over the past week. On Monday, the remains of the second of two-teens who went missing a week ago this past Sunday were pulled from Lake Pontchartrain. The body believed to be that of the other teen was recovered a day earlier. The two-teenagers, 16-year-old George McClain and 18-year-old Otis Thornton, were last seen March 9th as they left on a fishing trip in a 16-foot aluminum boat. Meantime, a third body was recovered from the Industrial Canal Sunday night. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office says that 61-year-old Louis Nelson the Third drowned. He reportedly was thrown from out of a boat he and another man were fishing from two-hours prior to his body being recovered.

Teacher Facing 50 Years
A math teacher at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans is facing up to 50-years in prison if convicted of having repeated sexual relations with a 16-year-old female whom he previously taught and tutored at an undisclosed school in Kenner. The girl told Kenner Police that she and 36-year-old Michael Lyons of Kenner had sex several times over the past year. Investigators learned that Lyons gave the girl a cell phone so the two could keep in contact without her parents finding out about their relationship. Lyons is charged with five-counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Cucumbers and Pot!
State Police announced Monday stopped a tractor-trailer rig on I-12 in Tangipahoa Parish that was transporting more than just its stated load of cucumbers. A search of the vehicle driven by 42-year-old Carlos Matinez of Weslaco, Texas also turned up 13-hundred pounds of marijuana troopers say was hidden behind a false wall. Trooper Louis Calato says Martinez, the drugs and the truck were all turned over to the DEA and the U.S. Attorney's Office for further investigation.

Two Teenage Boys Missing
A Coast Guard helicopter and boat joined others Monday in an unsuccessful search for two teenaged boys who failed to return from a weekend fishing trip on Lake Pontchartain in the vicinity of New Orleans East. The search will resume today for 18-year-old Otis Thornton and 16-year-old George McClain. Thornton's mother reported the young men missing early Monday morning. They were said to be aboard a green 16-foot flat-bottom aluminum fishing boat.
