State Police Enforcing "Left Lane Law"

State police are now issuing tickets to drivers who don't adhere
to a law that took effect last August--the so-called "left lane
law." LSP Lieutenant Doug Cain says the purpose behind the law is
not to issue more tickets, but to help ensure the smooth flow of
traffic. The law requires drivers to move into the right lane of
multi-lane roadways--unless passing or making a left turn. Cain
says even if you don't see a patrol car nearby, you shouldn't ignore
the law. Violators can be fined up to 100 dollars.

Alabama-Hunstville, says the study is based upon assumption and not
