Committee Talks Options For Infrastructure
The Lafayette Planning Commission has received a list of more than a dozen options to raise revenue for future infrastructure projects for the city. Among the items recommended by the Growth Opportunity Technical Team are a one-cent sales tax, a local option gasoline tax, higher property taxes, and increased auto inspection fees. All of the GOTT recommendations would need approval from the City-Parish Council before being enacted, and most would need voter approval. Some of the recommendations would require legislative approval or an amendment to the state Constitution.

U-L Officials Talk Demolition
UL officials say plans are in the works to demolish 40 married student apartments in order to make room for an expansion of the new Legacy Park on-campus community. The UL System Board of Supervisors will need to give final approval, and is expected to take up the issue Friday. Crist says construction on the Legacy Park expansion could get started this year.
