Jindal Says He and McCain Haven't Talked About It

Governor Bobby Jindal says he and his wife Supriya had a wonderful weekend at Senator John McCain's Arizona ranch, but there was no talk at all about running mates. Jindal says he did do some lobbying however--not to be the V-P candidate, but for Louisiana. The majority of the conservative media outlets--from Rush Limbaugh to bloggers--continue to tout Jindal as the perfect running mate for McCain Jindal says he'll help McCain get elected president, but doubts he'll be doing so on the Republican ticket. Jindal still says he doubts McCain will ask him to be a running mate as they have never spoken together about it.

Man Shot at Grandmother's House

Iberia Sheriff's Deputies responded to Ward Street last night to find 42 year-old Kern Gaudet in the carport area of the home, and he had been shot several times. Gaudet later died at a hospital. Police says Gaudet was visiting his grandmother when he went inside to check out a suspicious noise. Later shots rang out. Police says the investigation is ongoing.

Acadian Hills Closed At Saint Antoine

Acadian Hills Lane will remain closed at North Saint Antoine until this coming Monday. The road has been closed since mid May while the Frontage Road is being connected to North Saint Antoine Street. Apparently weather has caused delays in the project.

Citizen's Group Talks About Planning Firm

A citizen's group is calling for help from a planning firm to help develop a master plan for Lafayette Parish building and facility needs. Sarah Walker, who chairs the Community Coalition for Lafayette Schools, says representatives from a Baton Rouge firm will be on hand when the Lafayette Parish School Board and coalition members meet on June 10th. The firm, CSRS, has experience in working with schools. Walker says she hopes the school board will consider hiring a professional firm to help the school district's building plans move forward. She says some schools will need wholesale rebuilding, while others only need updating and replacement of portable buildings.

Two Suspects Wanted In Beating

Lafayette Police are looking for two men wanted in connection with the kidnapping and beating of a woman. Authorities say 27-year-old Jason Henry Jr. and 29-year-old Telesfore Pickney Jr. kidnapped the woman, took her to a motel and beat her. Police say the woman is Henry's sister.
