What Are 2008's Biggest Weather Stories? 2008 is nearly over, and it was a topsy-turvy year for weather in our state, with back-to-back hurricanes and a freak snowstorm topping the year's biggest weather stories. Here's State Climatologist Barry Keim. Keim says the December 11th snowstorm, that dumped up to 8 inches of snow on Louisiana, and the severe drought that peaked in August are the other top weather events for the year. Secretary of State Finishes Voter Purge Secretary of State Jay Dardenne says he's just finished purging another 45,000 non-active voters from state voter rolls. Dardenne says state law requires a purge be done every two years. He says this was a relatively small purge--compared to 83-thousand purged in 2006, and nearly 109-thousand purged in 2004. If you find that you've been purged, due to inactivity at the polls, you can always re-register at your local registrar's office.
