State Ag. Commissioner Promotes "Eat Local Louisiana Challenge"
State Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain urges Louisianans to help out farmers by eating only local food for one week. Strain says he's putting out his good-natured challenge to help stimulate Louisiana farms and to educate people of the value of Louisiana homegrown foods.
Strain says his "Eat Local Louisiana Challenge" is for next week; Sunday August 2nd through Saturday the 8th--coinciding with with National Farmer's Market Week. He says families can make an activity out of planning a week's worth of meals and hitting the Farmers' Market this weekend.
Strain says answering his challenge will be a great help to Louisiana farmers, and a tasty experience. He urges everyone to consider stocking up this weekend on only Louisiana foods..: (More information is online at "ldaf.la.gov") Friday, July 31, 2009 10:31 AM

Governor Bobby Jindal Optimistic About Economic Recovery
(Baton Rouge. LA) -- Governor Bobby Jindal is optimistic about the economic recovery going on in the state of Louisiana. The governor says Louisiana has one of the lowest rates of unemployment in the country. As far as giving credit to the Obama administration, Governor Jindal said he likes what he's heard, but he still has a lot of skepticism about the fact that DC thinks that they can spend their way into prosperity, borrow their way into prosperity, and now Washington wants to tax their way into prosperity. Governor Bobby Jindal says Louisiana's housing market is one of five markets in the country where housing prices went up. Governor Bobby Jindal says they've cut taxes and announced 32-thousand new jobs in the state.
