Baskin Robbins Robbery
Iberia deputies are looking for the suspect who robbed the Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Store on East Main Street yesterday. Police say a black male wearing a read shirt and a white cap with ECHO on it entered the store and ordered ice cream. When the clerk rang up the sale the suspect produced a knife and demanded the money from the register. He grabbed some money and fled. The suspect dropped the knife when he was leaving and it was recovered by investigators. He is described as a black male, 5'9", stocky build, possibly in his mid 30s with a light beard. Anyone who has any information about this case can call the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at 369-3711.

Cell Phone Bill
The state House of Representatives has approved a bill banning the use of hand-held cell phones while driving. Representative Austin Badon says over 4000 accidents statewide have been connected to hand-held cell phone use. The bill exempts use of two-way radios and phones with speakers or push- to-talk features. Representative Jeff Arnold opposed Badon's bill saying it's intrusive and un-enforcable. The bill passed, as amended, by a 57-41 vote. It goes now to the Senate.
