Council To Consider Ordinance Against 'Cruising'
 The Lafayette City-Parish Council is set for an initial vote Tuesday evening on a proposal to prohibit "cruising" in areas of Lafayette that include downtown and the Simcoe-Surrey street corridor.

Two of those famed New Orleans' streetcars that travel Canal Street did a rare thing Monday. They collided head-on. Twenty-three people, including the operators of both vehicles, suffered minor injuries. How the streetcars heading in opposite directions came to be on the same track remains under investigation. A switching system at the location which allows a car to be transferred to the other track is being checked for signs of tampering. Streetcar service on Canal and St. Charles Avenue was suspended for two-hours following the accident.
