|
 |
|
Nearly three decades after the last nuclear reactor was built in the U.S., Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based Shaw Group and Westinghouse plan to open a module fabrication and assembly plant by mid-2009 where new and modified nuclear reactors will be constructed for the AP1000 nuclear power plant. The facility will be located at the Port of Lake Charles and over the next five years will lead to the creation of upwards of 14-hundred jobs paying an average salary of 50-thousand-dollars. Shaw also expects to increase employment in other areas by 15-hundred. The company also announced Tuesday that it has committed to keeping its headquarters in Baton Rouge for at least another 15 years. |
