Louisiana Preparing For Possible Direct Hit By Gustav
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal urged residents late yesterday afternoon to make preparations for a possible direct hit by what was downgraded to Tropical Storm Gustav early Wednesday, but could re-energize into a major hurricane before it makes landfall. He says almost three years to the date of Hurricane Katrina, the state is better prepared than ever for a storm of that magnitude. Jindal says while most hurricane tracking models indicate Gustav will track towards Louisiana, he says it's too early to say if the storm will actually make landfall along the state's coastline or jog in another direction. But, he wants citizens to be prepared for the possibility of evacuations that could begin this weekend. |
