 River To Open Up Today Minimize

While the cleanup of hundreds of gallons of fuel oil continues along the banks and wetlands of the Mississippi River, the Coast Guard says the waterway should fully reopen to shipping by the end of today. The oil spill occurred early last Wednesday morning when a freighter struck a barge transporting the fuel. So far, less than 75-thousand gallons of more than 400-thousand gallons of oil that spilled into the river have been removed.
