Council To Consider Ordinance Against 'Cruising'
 The Lafayette City-Parish Council is set for an initial vote Tuesday evening on a proposal to prohibit "cruising" in areas of Lafayette that include downtown and the Simcoe-Surrey street corridor.

Louisiana State Police say a one-vehicle accident Wednesday evening on U.S. 84 in Natchitoches Parish killed the driver of the vehicle and injured the lone passenger. Troopers say 39-year-old Elton Patterson the Second of Louisville, Kentucky was fatally injured when his Dodge van left the highway and struck a tree. His passenger, 41-year-old Kim Martin, also of Louisville, was ejected from the vehicle and received moderate injuries. Neither Patterson nor Martin was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
