Millions Going To Farmers Flooding Their Fields
The government is doling out $20-million to farmers in eight states, including Louisiana, to create habitats for migratory birds whose usual Gulf wintering spots may be fouled by the massive BP oil spill.

Lawmaker Set To Walk Across State For Noble Cause
|

A Shreveport lawmaker is set to make his third annual walk, from his hometown to the State Capitol in Baton Rouge. Representative Patrick Williams says he has fresh pairs of shoes ready for the 226-mile journey which starts Saturday. Williams says he does it because he's passionate about raising awareness of childhood obesity and autism. Williams intends to reach Baton Rouge and the Capitol steps in time for the beginning of the 2010 regular legislative session--which starts Monday the 29th. |
