Baton Rouge Ranks Second Among U.S. Metros In Job Growth

(Baton Rouge, LA) -- The Baton Rouge Area Chamber announced this week that the Capital Region economy remains strong and ranked second out of 310 U.S. metros. Adam Knapp, President and CEO of the Baton Rouge area Chamber says they've been watching the numbers since December. From May 2008 to May 2009, the Baton Rouge area gained 13-hundred new jobs, primarily in the goods-producing sector. The Baton Rouge area's unemployment percentage was ranked as the 20th lowest among U.S. metros. Knapp says even as the recession grows, job growth in Baton Rouge is on the increase. |
