Governor Vetoes Funding For Adolescent Hospital

(Baton Rouge, LA) -- Governor Jindal has vetoed 14-point-two million dollars in state funding for the New Orleans Adolescent Hospital. The move means the hospital will likely shut its doors by September 1st. But State Department of Health and Hospitals officials say there will be no net reduction of mental health services in the New Orleans area as a result. Deputy chief of staff J. T. Lane says money lawmakers had allocated for the hospital will be redirected, and operations at the 35-bed facility will be moved to the Southeast Louisiana Hospital in Mandeville.
