 An oil platform exploded and burned off the Louisiana coast Thursday, the second such disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in less than five months.

Man Found Shot To Death In Suburban N.O.

(Avondale, LA) -- Jefferson Parish authorities say a man was shot to death in Avondale Monday night. Deputies say 46-year-old Wayne Wooden of Avondale was found lying in a street, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say crime scene investigators collected a number of spent .9mm shell casings near Wooden's body. Investigators haven't yet identified suspects or a motive.
