Council To Consider Ordinance Against 'Cruising'
 The Lafayette City-Parish Council is set for an initial vote Tuesday evening on a proposal to prohibit "cruising" in areas of Lafayette that include downtown and the Simcoe-Surrey street corridor.

Consumer Confidence At 26 Year Low
|

|
Consumer confidence is at a 26 year low. The Reuters-University of Michigan sentiment index dropped almost seven points in one month. The blue mood is the result of several factors. The economy has lost almost a quarter-million jobs this year, and gasoline is up 17-percent. Consumers are also being pinched by rising prices. An economist told Bloomberg, quote, "Consumers are feeling the pinch, not only from the labor market, but also from prices. There's a squeeze on incomes from two sides." |
