Millions Going To Farmers Flooding Their Fields
The government is doling out $20-million to farmers in eight states, including Louisiana, to create habitats for migratory birds whose usual Gulf wintering spots may be fouled by the massive BP oil spill.

Upwards Of 40 Percent Voter Turnout Predicted In Louisiana On Saturday

(Baton Rouge, LA) -- Saturday's primary election in Louisiana could well draw upwards of 40 percent of the state's registered voters to the polls. That prediction came Monday from Secretary of State Jay Dardenne during an address to the Press Club of Baton Rouge. He indicated the turnout could be highest in East Baton Rouge Parish where the offices of mayor, district attorney, some judgeships, and Metro Council seats will be voted on. Dardenne said nearly 71-thousand people took part in the seven days of early voting that ended this past Saturday. |
