A Vermilion parish sheriff deputy was hospitalized after a police chase. Patrol officers clocked someone driving at a high rate of speed and they attempted to stop him on highway 14 in the Kaplan area. When they finalling caught up to Tawaski O'Brien several deputies were trying to take him into custody when a Kaplan police officer fired his Taser accidently striking the deputy who then fell hurting his jaw and possibly his shoulder. O'Brien was ultimately charged with aggravated flight from an officer, 13 counts of stop sign violation and criminal damage to property.
