Senate Approves Pay Issue
Few people get to vote themselves a whopping pay raise, but that's not the case when it comes to the Louisiana Legislature. That's just what happened Tuesday afternoon when the Senate gave 20-to-16 approval to Senate Bill 672. The legislation proposes to set the pay of state lawmakers at 30-percent of what members of Congress make. If approved the bill would increase the pay of state lawmakers from 16-thousand-800-dollars a year to just over 59-thousand. The legislation, which would also mean that Louisiana House and Senate members get a pay raise everytime members of Congress get one, now moves to the House for consideration.
