Not Enough People Have a Plan

A new Mason-Dixon poll of 11-hundred Gulf Coast residents shows half do not have disaster plans--even with hurricane season starting Sunday. Mark Cooper, director of the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, says complacency is a universal problem for disaster officials. Cooper says GOHSEP has been training for the upcoming season, doing drills and exercises, and coordinating with federal and local authorities. He says they are putting a lot of effort into innovative public awareness campaigns this hurricane season to urge residents to get survival kits and personal evacuation plans in place...just in case.
