Despite units currently deployed overseas, and another on notice to return to Iraq, the Louisiana National Guard says it's ready for the 2008 Hurricane Season, which starts next week. Guard spokesman Lt. Mike Kazmierzak says the Guard has plenty of heavy equipment that's ready to roll. Kazmierzak says there are over 8000 Guardsmen and women in Louisiana -- ready to motivate in event of a natural disaster this storm season. He says the Guard drills on domestic disaster aid. Kazmierzak says if Governor Bobby Jindal should call the Louisiana National Guard into action for a hurricane, they are able and prepared to go to work, and they have added help on standby. |
