The House Criminal Justice Committee in Baton Rouge today takes up legislation dealing with AK-47s and other high powered guns. There are two bills. One would require owners of assault-style weapons to register the guns in Louisiana. The other bill outlaws buying the weapons. Gun rights advocates are fighting the bills that have the backing of the New Orleans Police chief.
