Jindal Inauguration Not Without Glitches
Yesterday's inauguration ceremony was a tightly scripted affair, timed down to mere minutes for each step -- but it wasn't without its mishaps. Governor Bobby Jindal was announced too soon, and the band played his entire introduction song without Jindal in sight. So, the master of ceremonies had to ask them to hit the song one more time, and Jindal and his wife emerged to walk down the red-carpeted stairs. When it was time to swear in the other statewide elected officials, another snafu occurred: Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Pascal Calogero started to swear in Treasurer John Kennedy as the state's insurance commissioner. Kennedy caught the mix-up, corrected his oath of office and was sworn in to his proper elected position with a laugh from the audience. |
