Governor Signs Pet Injury Law
|
|
|
Governor Jindal has signed into law a bill that would hold pet owners
criminally responsible if their pets injure or kill someone. The
bill was sponsored by Lafayette Representative Rickey Hardy, who
says the law does not target any specific breed of dog -- like
pitbulls or Rottweilers.
Under the bill, if your pet hurts someone, you could get up to 6
months in jail. If someone is killed, you could get up to 5 years.
Big fines are also included. The new law takes effect August 15th.
