Budget Cut Numbers For Louisiana Schools
|
|
|

The new state budget year begins today, and University of Louisiana System
schools have gotten the word on how much they'll each need to slash from
their spending over the next 12 months. System President Randy Moffett
says while it's less painful than the original figure-- pain is a relative term.
Cuts for the eight system universities range from over $7.5 million at U-L
Lafayette to over $2.75 million at Grambling. (SELA-$6.67 mil: ULM-$4.5
mil: LA Tech-$4.5 mil; NWLA-$4 mil: McNeese- $3.7 mil: Nicholls-$2.9 mil.)
Moffett says he appreciates lawmakers hard work to reduce the depth of the
cuts, but there's no doubt students--and staff--will feel the impact. |
