Slow Start to Hurricane Season
|
|
|

It's a slow start to the 2009 hurricane season, as no named storms
have formed in the Atlantic basin during the month of June. State
Climatologist Barry Keim says the sparse activity is because of
lower-than-forecast sea surface temperatures in the Atlantic and
Gulf of Mexico.
Keim says the slow start doesn't necessarily mean Louisiana will be
safe from tropical activity later in the season.
