June 2009 Was One of The Dryest Junes In State History

Despite heavy showers yesterday, the shortage of rain this month has been one for the record books--but was it THE dryest June ever? State climatologist Barry Keim says June 2009 comes in at the 3rd dryest ever--behind June 1930 with 2/3 of an inch of rain, and the 1936-record holder--just a half an inch. Keim says ordinarily, June is a fairly soggy month. |

Louisiana Awarded With $170 Million Education Grant

One Dead In Early Morning Shooting
Baton Rouge police report that officers responded to a shooting about 3:30 Thursday morning in the 1500 block of North Marque Ann Drive where they found a black male lying in a parking lot who had been shot.
