LITE is having an open house tomorrow. The complex, located on Cajundome Blvd, is inviting everyone, including children, to check out their new 3D chalk station. Summer Interns from Carencro High's Academy of Information Technology will also be there to present a 3D project of their own. Presentations begin in the Theatre about every 15 minutes starting at 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. RSVP's are not required, and the event is free. Louisiana Awarded With $170 Million Education Grant
The U.S. Department of Education awards a 170-million-dollar grant to a consortium of 26 states, including Louisiana, to develop new common assessments for public school students.

DOTD Issues Labor Day Travel Advisory

One Dead In Early Morning Shooting
Baton Rouge police report that officers responded to a shooting about 3:30 Thursday morning in the 1500 block of North Marque Ann Drive where they found a black male lying in a parking lot who had been shot.
