 Tentative Back Pay Issue

A tentative settlement has been reached in the lawsuit concerning back pay for Lafayette police, firefighters and city marshal's employees.  The $7.5 million agreement calls for $2.2 million to be paid out within the next three months and the remainder over the next six years.  The lawsuit was filed after the courts decided it was against the law for Lafayette Consolidated Government to dock up to 300 dollars per month from paychecks after state supplemental pay for first-responders kicked in.  The settlement must be approved by the City-Parish Council and state District Judge Ed Rubin.  More details of the settlement will be revealed during a news conference at Lafayette City Hall this morning at 9 o'clock.
