 Rice Farmers To Slim Profits

This year, rice acreage in Louisiana is expected to incraese for the first time in several years. A worldwide shortage of rice has caused a rise in prices, and has prompted farmers to plant more rice. LSU Ag Center rice specialist Johnny Saichuck says, however, that farmers are expected to see somewhat slim profits because of fertilizer tripling in price.
