The state Senate is scheduled today to debate a bill that would roll back income tax increases enacted under the 2002 "Stelly Plan". The plan swapped sales taxes on most groceries and other items, for new income tax brackets. The bill would restore income tax brackets to their pre-Stelly levels, meaning tax savings of up to $500 for single filers. The measure would shave 2-percent off taxes on incomes between $25- thousand and $50-thousand.
