Moratorium on Trailer Parks
Lafayette Consolidated Government has decided to place a six-month moratorium on issuing mobile home park permits in rural areas of the parish for six months. The move was made at the request of City-Parish Councilman Purvis Morrison, who says he wants regulations for trailer parks to be similar to those for conventional subdivisions. Morrison says many mobile home parks have been established, only to deteriorate in a short amount of time. He says requirements such as paved roads rather than gravel, more space between mobile homes, and park areas for children would make mobile home parks better for residents and less undesirable for neighbors. |
