 Committee Talks Options For Infrastructure

The Lafayette Planning Commission has received a list of more than a dozen options to raise revenue for future infrastructure projects for the city. Among the items recommended by the Growth Opportunity Technical Team are a one-cent sales tax, a local option gasoline tax, higher property taxes, and increased auto inspection fees. All of the GOTT recommendations would need approval from the City-Parish Council before being enacted, and most would need voter approval. Some of the recommendations would require legislative approval or an amendment to the state Constitution.
