Savoie Gets His Transition Team Moving

State Commissioner of Higher Education Joe Savoie, who takes over at president of UL-Lafayette this summer, has named various faculty, students, and community members to assist with his transition. Savoie, who was chosen last year to succeed retiring UL President Ray Authement , says he's already spent time on campus preparing to assume office and wants to hit the ground running. The more than 50 people chosen to help guide Savoie's transition have been divided into advisory groups that will focus on areas including academics, athletics, economic development, and student and faculty issues. Savoie says he'll continue to serve as higher education commissioner until the end of the legislative session, which ends June 20th, after which he'll assume the office of UL president.
