Marinello Trial To Be in Lafayette
The Louisiana Supreme Court has ruled that the trial of former New Orleans radio and TV broadcaster Vince Marinello will be held in Lafayette. Marinello, who's 70 years old, is accused of fatally shooting his estranged wife, 45-year-old Liz Marinello, in front on a Metairie office building in August 2006. Wednesday, the high court denied a request from prosecutors and defense attorneys to import a jury from elsewhere in the state to be seated in Gretna for Marinello's second-degree murder trial. Earlier, the defense argued that a fair trial by a Jefferson Parish jury was impossible because of pre-trial media coverage. Jury selection in Lafayette is slated to begin May 12th. |
