 Entergy Trying To Move Forward With Payment Plan

Louisiana's Public Service Commission has approved a plan by two Entergy branches to pay for 2005 hurricane costs and create a fund for future disasters by a state-sponsored bond sale. The PSC's nod means Entergy's only hurdle to getting the plan rolling is opposition from State Treasurer John Kennedy, who chairs the state Bond Commission. Entergy hopes to save on federal taxes by bonding through the state, but Kennedy says if the IRS decides against that, the state could be liable for the taxes and the debt.
