BESE Is Considering A New Evaluation For Pastorek
At the urging of lawmakers, the state's Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) is considering new performance evaluation standards for Superintendant Paul Pastorek. BESE Chairperson Glenny Lee Buquet says the Board took meetings with the Joint Budget Committee and legislative leaders, and the Joint Budget Committee resisted approving a $56-thousand pay raise for Pastorek; taking his compensation package from nearly $300-thousand to almost $356-thousand a year. BESE will discuss possible preformance standards at its next called meeting, after the Superintendant has had time to respond. However member John Bennett suggests performance evaluations for BESE's members as well would benefit the panel. Bennett says BESE staff should evaluate the board. |
