A longtime Lafayette Utilities System employee has been placed on paid administrative leave after his arrest on fraud and malfeasance charges. Fifty-eight-year-old Tracey Dalfrey of Carencro faces 236 counts and is currently free on bail. According to an affidavit, Dalfrey, who's worked for LUS for 23 years and is listed as a plant instrument mechanic two, is accused of creating three bogus businesses, then using them to submit bids to sell equipment to the government. The affidavit says the contracts were worth more than 740-thousand-dollars over the past two years. City-Parish President Joey Durel says he ordered Lafayette Police to investigate after he learned of the allegations.
