Study Finds Boredom Can Shorten Lifespan
(London) -- British researchers say people who complain of boredom are more likely to die young. London's "Daily Mail" reports a study of seven-thousand civil servants over a 25-year period revealed those who said they were bored were more than 40-percent likely to have died by the end of the study than those who did not. It also found that people who experienced high levels of tedium are more than two-and-half times as likely to die from heart disease or stroke. Researchers theorize it could be the result of people unhappy with their lives developing unhealthy habits including smoking and drinking. The study results appear in this week's International Journal of Epidemiology. |
