Council To Consider Ordinance Against 'Cruising'
The Lafayette City-Parish Council is set for an initial vote Tuesday evening on a proposal to prohibit "cruising" in areas of Lafayette that include downtown and the Simcoe-Surrey street corridor.

Senator Grassley Expects Partisanship In Health Bill Negotiations

(Washington, DC) -- U.S. Senator Charles Grassley said Wednesday he expects to serve on a joint House and Senate conference committee being put together to reconcile competing versions of a federal healthcare overhaul. However, the Iowa Republican said he does not expect to have any meaningful input on the final bill. Instead, he thinks Democrats will meet behind closed doors and then bring out a healthcare reform bill without seeking input from Republicans. Grassley expects the conference committee to begin its work as early as January 19th. |
